‘Nunsense’ to take HCCT stage

The popular comedy musical chronicles five surviving nuns at the Little Sisters of Hoboken, a one-time missionary order that ran a leper colony in France.

Hart County Community Theatre will present “Nunsense” this weekend and next in downtown Hartwell.

The popular comedy musical chronicles five surviving nuns at the Little Sisters of Hoboken, a one-time missionary order that ran a leper colony in France. The characters plan and put on a variety show to help properly bury the 52 other residents of the convent after their cook accidentally killed them with her tainted vichyssoise.

The play, by Dan Goggin, is one of the longest running off-Broadway productions ever and has been translated into 26 languages and performed more than 8,000 times internationally.

The HCCT production is directed by Kayla and Michael Blackson and is presented by Samuel French Inc.

Nunsense will hit the HCCT stage at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14 and Saturday, Feb. 15 and on Friday Feb. 21 and Saturday Feb. 22. Sunday performances will be at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 16 and 23.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $5 for children 10 and younger.
